Credits are available for missed meals. Supper is served from 4:45-5:45pm in The Gardens dining room. Meal Plans are available for tenants in all combinations at a discounted price per meal. SERVICE PACKAGE – Every suite pays a monthly Service Package which includes the basic satellite package, complimentary coffee all day in the dining room, helps to pay for our Life Enrichment Coordinator and subsidizes a lot of activities, helps subsidize the common rooms like the MPR, Salon, Exercise Room, Library, daily garbage pick-up, etc. THE GUEST SUITE – Our guest suite is available to tenants’ guests for $85 per night. They will be comfortable in a room with a queen-sized bed, a double sofa bed, a kitchenette, coffee maker, and TV. Bookings are made by Reception. Check-in time is 4:00pm on the day of arrival, and check-out time is 1:00pm on the day of departure. SATELLITE TV – All tenants get the basic Shaw satellite package included in a monthly Service Package. WI-FI – Free WiFi is available in the Library and Solarium. To purchase WiFi for your own apartment, please contact MTS or VISP. BBQ – Gas barbecues are not allowed. Electric barbecues are acceptable. A gas barbecue is available in our Courtyard. MAIL – Mail is delivered to your mailbox in the mailroom in the Lobby. MAILING ADDRESS – Your suite # – 140 10th Avenue NE, Altona MB R0G 0B7 PARKING Parking is available in the parking lot (assigned with a plug-in) or in the Parkade for an extra cost. STORAGE – A storage locker is provided for each suite in the Parkade. LAUNDRY – Stacked washer and dryer supplied in each suite. HOUSEKEEPING – Services available. SECURITY – The entrance door is locked 24 hours a day. An intercom located in the entrance allows tenants to let guests into the building. The intercom includes a directory of all tenants with suite numbers. Guests may enter the suite number, or if they do not know it, they may scroll through the list to find the appropriate name and then press the green phone icon button. This connects to the tenant’s phone, who can then choose to let them in from the convenience of their room. The entrance door will then automatically unlock and open. GARBAGE/RECYCLING – Garbage and Recycling are picked up every morning Monday to Friday. MULTIPURPOSE ROOM – The MPR is provided free of charge to Tenants for family gatherings and activities. Night Watch walks the halls hourly and can check on tenants in their rooms during the night on request. NIGHT LOCK – The Manor entrance doors are locked daily at 10:00pm and open at 6:00am. Manor residents are issued a swipe card for access. PARKING – Ample parking spaces available (with plug-ins) for $22/month. MAIL – Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we pick up mail from the Altona Post Office. We deliver letters and parcels to residents on those days usually during the noon meal. STAFF – Some of our staff are able to converse in English, Low German, and High German, as well as some other languages. RENT – Rent is payable in advance, on or before the first of the month. Rent can be paid by:
- automatic transfer (set-up by the tenant), or
- EASIEST FOR ALL: pre-authorized debit (automated withdrawal initiated by The Gardens on Tenth)
SMOKING – All buildings are smoke-free. We have designated smoking areas on the property. PETS – All of our buildings are pet-free facilities. SPECIAL OCCASIONS – Family gatherings can be accommodated at The Gardens on Tenth free of charge. There is room for your group in:

- The Apartments Activity Room, Lounge or Tea Room
- The Manor Dining Room

PHONES – Many tenants use MTS for their phone – call their Customer Service line at (204)225-5687 or go to the MTS Connect store at West Park Motors in Altona (248 Centre Ave East). If you mention that the phone needs to be hooked up quickly for safety reasons (i.e. Lifeline) hookup is much faster. TELEVISION – Tenants will directly contact a satellite provider of their choosing. In The Gardens, Shaw Satellite is included in the monthly Service Package. PHARMACIST: Pembina Valley Pharmacy provides a Pharmacist in the 2nd floor Health/Salon room of The Gardens every Wednesday at 10:00 AM to consult regarding medications. Free delivery of prescriptions. PFAHL’S HOME HEALTH: Residents are responsible for the maintenance of their wheelchairs or scooters. Pfahl’s Home Health (Altona Mall) does monthly service visits 1st Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM in The Apartments. Call Pfahl’s to arrange to test new/used equipment so they can bring options. TENANT ORIENTATION – Our Executive Director, Laurie Schellenberg, is available to answer questions for residents or their family or supporters.
